BalletBoyz were founded by Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, whose debut performance Pointless at the Roundhouse in 2001 helped redefine contemporary dance for UK audiences. Twenty five years on, Still Pointless reflects on the company’s legacy of daring collaborations, innovative formats, and commitment to reaching audiences across the country.
The programme brings together revivals of key works from the BalletBoyz repertoire, opening with an excerpt from Russell Maliphant’s Critical Mass, originally performed in the company’s early years. Other highlights include choreography by Maxine Doyle, Liam Scarlett, Christopher Wheeldon, Xie Xin, and Javier de Frutos, alongside a brand new commission by emerging choreographer Seirian Griffiths.
Music plays a central role in the evening, with compositions by artists including Max Richter, Keaton Henson, Cassie Kinoshi, and others, creating a rich and varied soundscape.
